The primary responsibility of the Office of Community Development is to secure Federal, State, and other resources to improve the quality of life for Hull residents. The office, each year, applies for funds that are distributed directly to residents through the housing rehabilitation program (see policy and sample application), various job training programs, various social service programs, and through projects that increase handicapped accessibility to Town owned properties.
The Office also secures funding for larger projects that are of benefit to the Town as a whole. Examples include funds to develop the Universal Access Floating Dock at Pemberton Pier and funds for the dredging of Nantasket pier. Lastly, the Office also coordinates many of the planning functions of the Town. The Office was instrumental in the development of the Town’s Harbor Management Plan and the soon to be completed update to the Town’s Open Space and Recreation Plan.
